A window into the week — the work, the chaos, the good bits
A lot of being a parent is the mundane, everyday routine: the drop offs, the meals, the same loop on repeat. And then every so often a week comes along that throws you completely out of whack. This was one of those weeks.
This is a little extra behind-the-scenes series I feel inspired to share here every so often. A peek at what a week actually looks like for me, in case you’ve ever wondered what I do all day.
I started Sunday flying home from four days in Denver and Philadelphia for Harry Potter conventions, living off the contents of my carry-on suitcase and watching the entire second season of The Pitt (if you haven't, do).
Monday was the hard kind of re-entry, Elio's deep in an attachment phase and the tears at preschool drop off undid me a little. Then head down at my desk finalizing Season 3 of Earthling Kids Club. Lots of back on forths on the designs with my brother Lewis. The theme is Under the Sea and if you’ve been following me for a while you know I love everything to do with the ocean.

Tuesday I sat in on talks at the Hollywood Climate Summit, where filmmakers and storytellers addressed the state of climate narratives in entertainment and the environmental impact of the industry. One statistic genuinely stopped me: 70% of parents think children’s media should include age-appropriate climate content, 74% want sustainability solutions included, but only 34% have actually seen it. That gap is the whole reason I do this.
Midweek tipped into launch mode, loading the new merch collection to Shopify, counting stock and Thursday it went live. This collection was designed by my friends and artists Ophelia and Ryder Jones. It’s a playful, summery collection that I had been sitting on for weeks waiting to get it out into the world. My first order came from one of my best friends. You know you’re lucky when your people show up like that.
(The collection is live now if you want to take a look here — I’ll share more about the story behind it soon.)

Friday was all Elio. Farmers market, music class, and an irresponsible amount of watermelon, which, if you know toddlers, you know how that ended. No spare clothes. We won’t dwell. He “helped” pack merch orders, mostly by covering my entire desk in Earthling stickers. After we returned home from the post office our little pool in the sun called our names. We heated up a frozen pizza, I poured myself a non-alcoholic Peroni. A perfect Friday.

Saturday started quietly with the train set out, and then Andrew called from the beach, he’d cut his head open. Five staples later we rewarded ourselves with croissants, a toy shop (Elio negotiated a Lego tractor, very successfully) and a bookshop, where I found The Sea Witch by Eva Leigh.
Sunday we loaded up the car to head to our first Los Angeles Earthling event with Dr Max’s. I always get a little nervous right before an event, going over the flow in my head a hundred times. The morning was a huge success and it was so lovely meeting lots of families. I’ll share more on the Earthling Kids Club activities we got up to.
Tonight it’s leftover berry pie that Elio and I made with berries from our garden and about four pages of my book before I fall asleep.
A good week. A full one.

My Roundup
Watching: The Pitt Season 2—emotional, gripping
Reading The Sea Witch by Eva Leigh
Loving Beekeeper’s Naturals throat spray for travel
Pregnancy staple: these electrolytes, in every water bottle
Wind-down: non-alcoholic Peroni, surprisingly good
Next weekend Elio and I are heading to London for my last big trip while pregnant. Can’t wait to share what we get up to.
Forward this to a friend who’d love it, or join Earthling Kids Club →

Thank you for recommending Eva Leigh's "The Sea Witch," I've already added it to my shopping cart on the app to buy. I love books and stories about magic and enchantment.
